The Lake McKenzie Tour is the perfect way to experience Fraser Island's World Heritage wonders.
You may have read that Lake McKenzie is undergoing a facelift and will be closed to all visitors from September 3. The good news is the new and improved Lake McKenzie facility will be open on September 18 and we'll be visiting with Fraser Explorer Tours. During the closures we'll be adjusting our itineraries and will replace Lake McKenzie with a perched dune lake that's just as beautiful - so you'll still see the best Fraser Island has to offer.
Tour Highlights: • Stop for a swim in the cool fresh waters of Eli Creek as it flows swiftly into the ocean. • View the coloured sands of the Pinnacles and the rusting wreck of the cruise ship Maheno. • Experience the peace and beauty of Central Station and absorb the history of the former logging camp. • Stroll through the rainforest along the banks of Wanggoolba Creek, home to the magnificent giant king fern. • At Pile Valley marvel at the tall, majestic satinay trees. Satinays were logged to line the banks of the Suez Canal. • Relax at Lake McKenzie, Fraser Island's most spectacular fresh-water lake.
The itinerary may change due to tides and weather conditions.
Departure details: • The tour departs daily at 6.15am from Urangan Boat Harbour, returning around 6pm.
